The octagon pond represents the ability of reaching all directions while the water represents wealth, implying a cornucopia of tightening wealth. The carps and tortoises bred in the pond, along with a rotating dragon ball with the Yin Yang marking at the center of the pond combine together to provide blessings and longevity.
